What is lock bumping?

Lock bumping is a new lock picking technique for opening a lock using a specially-crafted bump key (or 999 key).

"Bumping" a lock is disturbingly simple to do, as you can see in this video of an even for an 11-year old kid bumping a lock. Lock bumping works on more than 90% of locks presently installed in homes and offices, including deadbolts, padlocks, and post-office boxes.
